Women's Soccer Victorious Over Old Dominion
    Monarchs Shutout by Hokies

    BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's soccer team defeated the Monarchs of Old Dominion Friday, 1-0.

    Junior Victoria Sarfo-Kantanka (Glen Allen, Va.) scored the only goal in the match. Sarfo-Kantanka beat ODU goalkeeper Tonya Dedmond with a shot to the lower left corner off the goal. Junior Kim Wyckoff (Springfield, Va.) was credited with the assist on the play.

    Hokie goalkeeper Katie Hancock (Stockton, Md.) played all 90 minutes in goal, allowing no goals and collecting 14 saves.

    Tech tallied 20 shots, four corners, and 13 fouls. ODU totaled 25 shots, 10 corners and eight fouls.

    With the win, the Hokies break a three game losing streak and pull their record up to 4-7. Tech will be back in action Sunday when they play host to George Washington. The match is scheduled for a 1p.m. start time.
