Blacksburg, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's soccer team shutout Radford 4-0 Wednesday in Radford.

After playing a scoreless 45 minutes, the Hokies exploded in the second half with all four of their goals.

Freshman Linda Bruce (Mechanicsville, Va.) opened the scoring for Tech when she netted her first goal of her collegiate career at the 48:03 mark in the match. Bruce scored off a follow-up shot off Jessica Myer's (Richmond, Va.) rebound.

Just over 20 minutes later, freshman Megan Foy (Mechanicsville, Va.) made the score 2-0. The goal came at the 68:47 mark in the match and freshman Larissa Johnson (Owings, Md.) was given credit for the assist.

The scoring cooled down until the last eight-minutes of the match where the Hokies put it away. Sophomore Krista Dooley (Richmond, Va.) put Tech up 3-0 when she scored on a deep shot from 15 yards out. The unassisted goal came at the 82:15 mark.

Bruce then found the back of the net for the second time in the match just under four minutes later. Following Dooley's goal, Bruce scored on a direct kick from 20 yards out. The final goal came at the 86:05 mark.

Hokie goal tender Shannon Janko (Southboro, Mass.) played all 90 minutes in the match. She faced a total of five shots from the Highlanders and allowed zero goals.

The Hokies will be back in action Friday when they travel to James Madison University to compete in the JMU/Sheraton Soccer Tournament. Their first opponent will be James Madison.
