HARRISONBURG, Va. - Three freshmen netted one goal apiece in a 3-1 victory over Virginia Tech Friday night.

The Dukes scored their first goal of the evening just 10 minutes into the game. Freshman Bryant Karpinski netted a 32-yard shot to get JMU on the board first.

The score remained 0-1 until just before halftime. JMU's Christy Metzger angled in a shot from the touchline to give the Duke's a two goal lead. The goal came at the 42:41 mark in the match.

Tech pulled within one goal when freshman Tanya Netzel (Oak Hill, Va.) scored on a 40 yard deep free kick.

The score remained 2-1 until just under 15 minutes to go in the match. Abby Karpinski scored the final goal of the night. Karpinski netted a rebound off a Marisa Lemme cross that was deflected by Tech goalkeeper Shannon Janko. The goal came at the 75:34 mark in the match.

The loss drops The Hokies to 2-4-0 on the year. The loss to JMU was the second match of the JMU/Sheraton Four Points Hotel Invitational Tournament.

Next up for the Tech will be Loyola, who lost 0-3 to Penn State earlier in the day. The match is scheduled for noon on Sunday.
