BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech freshman forward Ashley Stinson was named to the Soccer Buzz National Elite Team of the Week on Sept. 8 for her efforts in the Hokies' two wins last week.

Stinson, a native of Acworth Ga., netted three goals in the 9-0 victory over VMI on six shots, four of which were on goal. She opened the scoring 1:53 into the contest and recorded a hat trick before the end of the first half.

In the first ever ACC contest for Virginia Tech, Stinson tallied both goals in the 2-0 win over Maryland. Against the Terrapins, she recorded five shots on the day and three were shots on goal.

In four games this season, the North Cobb High School graduate has totaled seven goals on 21 shots and one assist.

Earlier in the week, Stinson was named ACC Player of the Week by the conference office and earned the Virginia Tech Athlete of the Week award.

Tech travels to Columbus, Ohio for a Friday afternoon contest against Dayton at 5 p.m. The Hokies face Ohio State on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. before returning home to face the College of Charleston on Friday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.
