    Men's Soccer Defeats VMI
    Five Second Half Goals Lift Hokies to Victory

    LEXINGTON, Va. - The Virginia Tech men's soccer team scored five second half goals to defeat VMI, 6-2, Saturday afternoon at Patchin Field in Lexington, Va.

    The Cadets struck first when Jason Seagle scored in the 34th minute of play to give VMI a 1-0 advantage. The Hokies evened up the match, 1-1, seven-minutes later when Jeremy Parsels (Woodbridge, Va.) scored off an assist from Keith Benderoth (Woodbridge, Va.) and Fred Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil).

    Tech took the lead early in the second half when John Havas (Mechanisburg, Pa.) scored at the 46:55 mark. Benderoth was credited with the assist. VMI would answer the Hokie goal under a minute later when Cameron Keresey scored. No assist was given on the goal.

    The Hokies would re-take the lead for good when Silva scored off a feed from Ryan Cummins (Woodbridge, Va.). The goal came at the 62:11 mark. Tech would go on to score three more goals before the final horn was sounded. The fourth Hokie goal of the night came from Cummins. He scored at the 66:05 mark in the match. No assist was given on the play. Drew Myers (High Point, N.C.) scored the final two goals for Tech, with the first coming at the 67:43 mark. Havas was given credit for the assist. Myers' second goal came at the 72:29 mark and was unassisted.

    Colin Kibler (Virginia Beach, Va.) played over 75-minutes in goal for the Hokies, while Ben Pinkerton (Blacksburg, Va.) finished up. Kibler collected six saves and allowed two goals. Morgan Harris also played over 75-minutes in goal for the Cadets. Harris collected two saves and allowed six goals. Brian Douglas finished out the match for VMI.

    The win improves Tech's record to 3-8-2 on the year while VMI falls to 3-8. The Hokies will be back in action Wednesday when they host the Flames from Liberty.
