Women's Soccer Victorious Over Davidson
Chestnut and Kotwas net goals in win

The Virginia Tech women's soccer team defeated the Davidson Wildcats Friday afternoon in Blacksburg, Va. Carmen Chestnut (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) and Wendy Kotwas (Conesus, N.Y.) scored the goals in the match.

Tech jumped out to a 1-0 lead after a scoreless first half when Kotwas collected a loose ball 15 yards out and beat the keeper with her shot. The goal came at the 53:40 mark and there was no assist on the play. It was Kotwas' second goa of the year.

Chestnut upped the lead to two goals when she blasted a deep shot that beat the keeper far post. There was also no assist on the goal and it came at the 62:44 mark. The goal was Chestnut's second of the year.

The Hokies out shot the Wildcats by a 24-2 margin. Goalkeeper Katie Hancock (Stockton, Md.) played the entire match in goal for Tech and collected the shutout. Sarah Hobart also played the entire match for Davidson, collecting five saves.

The win improves the Hokies' record to 4-4-2 and drops Davidson tp 4-7 overall. Tech will be back in action Sunday when they travel to Old Dominion University to take on the Monarchs. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
