Women's Soccer Downs Old Dominion
Wyckoff scores game-winning goal

The Virginia Tech women's soccer team defeated the Old Dominion Monarchs 1-0 Sunday afternoon in Norfolk, Va. Kim Wyckoff (Springfield, Va.) scored the game-winning goal to give the Hokies their fifth win of the year.

The goal came at the 18:05 mark when Wyckoff took a pass from Kathy Holdsworth (Orange Park, Fla.) and knocked it past the Old Dominion goalkeeper. Holdsworth was credited with the assist on the play and the goal was Wyckoff's third of the year.

Katie Hancock (Stockton, Md.) provided Tech with solid goalkeeping in net. Hancock collected five saves in the match on 11 Old Dominion shots. The shutout is Hancock's third of the year and second in a row. Tonya Dedmon also played strong for the Monarchs. She produced four saves on six Hokie shots and allowed the lone goal.

The win moves Tech to 5-4-2 on the year and drops Old Dominion to 3-5-1. The Hokies are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Radford, Va., to take on the Radford Highlanders. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
