    November 9, 2001

Joy Nsubuga (Hollysprings, N.C.), a redshirt senior on the Virginia Tech women's soccer team has been named to the 2001 All-BIG EAST Second Team. The awards were presented at the annual championship banquet held Thursday night in Somerset, N.J.

Nsubuga completed an impressive 2001 season despite having to battle through injuries in the latter potion of the year. She was the team leader in assists with three and was tied for second in overall scoring with nine points. She was also tied for second in goals scored with three, with one of them being the game-winner over intrastate rival Radford.

After redshirting the 2000 season, Nsubuga led the women's soccer team into its inaugural season of BIG EAST soccer. She helped the team to a 8-9-3 overall record and a 1-4-1 mark in conference play. This is Nsubuga's second post season award. She was named to the All-Atlantic 10 conference second team in 1999.
