Moore and Stinson Earn VaSID Honor
Stinson garners first-team selection
December 17, 2004 RICHMOND, Va. - Freshmen Ashley Stinson and Erin Moore have been named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State team. Stinson, a native of Acworth, Ga., was named to the first team after leading the Hokies in numerous categories. She finished 13th nationally in goals per game and 16th nationally in points per game. Stinson set single-season school records for goals (17), points (39), shots (75) and consecutive games with at least one point (8). She finished first in the conference in goals per game, shots per game and points per game. Stinson also had five game-winning goals on the year. Moore, a native of Poolesville, Md., is tied for sixth place on the career list for assists after posting seven in her freshman season. Her seven assists were one off the single-season school record of eight by Wendy Kotwas in 1999. Moore also had two goals on the season, including the game-winner against Longwood. The Hokies concluded their inaugural Atlantic Coast Conference season with an 11-9 overall record and their first-ever trip to the NCAA Championship.
