GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech forward Laurie Beth Puglisi (Arlington, Va.) has been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Freshman Team by the league's coaches.

In her first collegiate season, Puglisi led the Hokies with six goals and an assist, including the game-winner at Radford on Oct. 26. Of her team-leading 13 points, eight came against ACC opponents.

Her most memorable goal came on Oct. 16, when she scored the game-tying goal against No. 3 North Carolina. Puglisi also had a goal against then-ranked No. 5 Santa Clara to her credit.

She joins teammates Ashley Stinson (Acworth, Ga.) and Heather Hallberg (Richmond, Va.), who were named to the ACC All-Freshman Team last season.

"LB continued to develop over the course of the season and played with more and more confidence as the season went on," Tech head coach Kelly Cagle said. "I thought she was superb for us this season, not only at scoring goals but also for winning balls. She didn't lose too many, which allowed us to compete against the best teams in the country."

The Hokies finished the 2005 season last Wednesday, with a 2-0 triumph over Radford. Tech finished with a 6-10-3 record.
