September 8, 2006 BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Liberty women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 20 Wake Forest, Friday, in the opening game of the Virginia Tech Tournament at Virginia Tech Soccer Stadium. The Demon Deacons made it 1-0 early into the match when Elizabeth Remy managed to put one between the pipes during a scramble in the box for the early lead. The half would end with Wake Forest taking 10 shots over Liberty's 3. Into the second half, the score remained the same, with both teams trying to develop offensive possibilities. The Demon Deacons went up 3-0 when Kaley Fountain lofted a shot from just left of the 18-yard box and into the net. Wake continued to press into the Liberty defense and once again shot one past the Flames' goalkeeper, Kaitlyn Doe. Megan Upchurch received the nod for the goal, following an assist from Remy. Wake Forest dominated in the stats, leading in shots (22-7), corner kicks (8-3) and fouls (10-9). Liberty's two keepers recorded seven saves over Wake's two.
