2006 All-ACC Academic women's soccer team announced
Thirteen All-Conference honorees earned All-Academic honors.

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Thirteen All-Conference honorees including the ACC Offensive Player of the Year and Soccer America's National Player of the Year, secured spots on the 2006 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Soccer Team as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford. All 11 schools in the league competing in women's soccer are represented on the honors team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Players earning first team or second team All-ACC honors this past fall are North Carolina's Yael Averbuch. Heather O'Reilly and Tobin Heath, Wake Forest's Elizabeth Remy and Kristina Hanley, Florida State's Katrin Schmidt and Kelly Rowland, Boston College's Jennifer Maurer, Duke's Rebecca Moros, Maryland's Nicole Resnick, Virginia's Becky Sauerbrunn, and Clemson's Julie Bolt.
Averbuch, a sophomore midfielder and the ACC Offensive Player of the Year, led the league in goals per game (0.60) and finished second in scoring (1.40). O'Reilly, the Honda Award winner and the Soccer America Player of the Year this past fall, led the ACC in scoring (1.70) and tied for third in goals scored (0.50).
Repeaters from last year's academic team include Boston College's Mary Gene Dane, Heather Ferron, and Jennifer Maurer; Clemson's Britten Meyer, Duke's Rachel-Rose Cohen and Christie McDonald; Florida State's Katrin Schmidt; Maryland's Nicole Resnick; North Carolina's Yael Averbuch and Heather O'Reilly; NC State's Tami Krzeszewski and Michelle Massey; Virginia's Christina DeVries and Becky Sauerbrunn; Virginia Tech's Heather Hallberg, Ashley Kinser and Mallory Soldner, and Wake Forest's Elizabeth Remy.
