The loss is Tech’s first in seven matches and first in ACC play. Jennifer Harvey was the lone goal scorer for the Hokies while Danielle Hubka, Ashley Grove and Becky Kaplan tallied scores for the Terrapins

Hubka put Maryland (10-2-1, 2-2-1 ACC) on the board first as she scored in the eighth minute, handling a rebound off Tech’s keeper, Kristin Carden, putting the ball into the right side of the net.

Kaplan furthered the Terrapin lead in the 67th minute as she scored the final goal of the game after Sade Ayinde slipped the ball through the defense and Kaplan launched it into the left side of the net.

The Hokie defense would only allow the Terps to take three more shots after the goal as keeper, Carden, finished the match having made seven saves, facing 15 shots, 10 on goal.
