Hokies to face Murray State in NCAA Tournament
Tech makes back-to-back NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

BLACKSBURG, Va. The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team earned the No. 3 seed in the UCLA bracket and will travel to Dayton, Ohio, to face Murray State on Friday, Nov. 13, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament announced on Monday. This is the first time in program history that the Hokies have appeared in the Tournament two years in a row. The University of Dayton will take on Marquette on Friday and the winners of both games Friday will play on Sunday, Nov. 15.

The Hokies have had one of their best seasons in program history this year posting a never-before-seen 13-6 regular season record, and finishing fourth in the ACC, their best all-time conference finish. Tech notched four top-25 victories this season and most recently took down No. 10 Wake Forest, 1-0, in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament as freshman Kelly Conheeney scored the game-winner in overtime. Conheeney later earned All-ACC Tournament team honors for her late heroics, but the Hokies were bounced in the semifinals by top-seeded Florida State, 2-0.

Of the Tournament’s four No. 1 seeds, the Hokies have faced three of them this season, Stanford, Florida State and North Carolina, and defeated the Tar Heels at home, 1-0.
