And helped organize and build confidence in our team, as she assisted our freshman goalkeeper, Caroline Kelly, earn her first two career shutouts."

Mitchell played a huge role in the Hokies’ opening weekend sweep this past weekend, as they posted a 1-0 double-overtime victory over UNC Wilmington before a 2-0 win over the Richmond Spiders. She played every minute in the pair of shutout wins.

The Women’s College Team of the Week is chosen after reviewing every match report for Division I soccer. Joining Mitchell with this honor is ACC opponent Kim DeCesare of Duke, along with Erin Dees (Portland), Taylor Heatherly (Baylor), Emily Goldstein (Iowa State), Christine Nairin (Penn State), Amy Harrison (Tennessee), Kristin Cummins (Texas), Grace Leer (California), Rachel Strawn (Idaho State) and Jonelle Filigno (Rutgers).
