Virginia Tech vs. Florida State/Pittsburgh Match Notes

Virginia Tech closes out the home portion of the 2015 regular season this weekend with a pair of big ACC matches. On Thursday night, the seventh-ranked Hokies host top-ranked Florida State at Thompson Field at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the Hokies will celebrate Senior Day, as they welcome Pittsburgh to Thompson Field at 1 p.m. The FSU match will be shown on ESPN3.

Entering This Weekend’s Matches

The Hokies enter the weekend 13-2-1 overall and 5-2 in conference action ... Florida State is 13-1-1 on the season and 6-0-1 in ACC play ... Pittsburgh was 10-4-1 overall and 4-3 in conference play entering their match at Duke on Thursday night ... Tech is ranked seventh in the NSCAA poll and fifth in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll ... Sunday’s match against Pittsburgh will mark Senior Day for the Hokies’ five seniors ... This season’s senior class for the Hokies consists of five players, Ashley Meier, Jordan Coburn, Morgan Conklin, Courtney Stutts and Delia Maresco ... This talented quintet entered the match Thursday night with an overall record of 61-19-5, for a .747 winning percentage ... This group has also made the NCAA Tournament in all three of their previous seasons and 5-2-1 NCAA Tournament record ... This group is the ninth-winningest senior class in Division I this season with 61 victories.

Our Newest Hokie

Head coach Chugger Adair relied heavily on associate head coach Drew Kopp and assistant coach Matt Gwilliam prior to the win over Duke, for a very good reason ... On Friday, Adair and his wife, Shelbylynn, welcomed the birth of their their second child, son Austin Tate Adair ... Shelbylynn is an assistant coach on the Virginia Tech volleyball team.
