Tech Drops Close Match to Ohio State
Hokies fall to 10-7

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker to No. 47 Ohio State Sunday at Burrows/Burleson Tennis Center. With the loss, the Hokies fall to 10-7 on the year.

Ohio State came out strong, winning two out of three doubles matches to claim the first point. Ginger Lowdermilk (Jr., Bossier City, La.) and Carolyn Kramer (So., Manchester, Mo.) fell to Sadhaf Pervez and Lindsay Williams 8-6, while Elissa Kinard (So., Charleston, S.C.) and Kristen Stubbs (Sr., Hilton Head, S.C.) lost to Erica Fisk and Jackie Leskovar 8-6. The only Hokies' doubles win came when Zdenka Videnova (Sr., Skopje, Macedonia) and Felice Lam (So., Seattle, Wash.) topped Meaghan Colville and Lindsey Adams 8-3.

Tech continued to fight, winning three singles matches. In the No. 3 match, Kinard downed Williams 6-2, 6-4. In the No. 5 match, Videnova topped Emily DeCammilla 7-5, 6-7, 11-9, in the 10-point tie-breaker, and Lam defeated Colville 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, in the sixth match.

In the No. 1 match, Stubbs fell to No. 38 Pervez 6-4, 6-4, while Kramer lost in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, to Fisk. In the No. 4 match, Lowdermilk fell to Leskovar 6-4, 6-4.

The Hokies will be back in action Wednesday, March 19, as they travel to Charlottesville to take on the Virginia Cavaliers. Match time is set for 1:30 p.m.
