Hokies play at in-state foes this weekend
Tech looks to put more W's in the win column

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech's women's tennis team travels to Richmond and Williamsburg for non-conference matches this weekend.

Tech's match against Richmond (7-6) is slated for Saturday, April 2 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Westhampton Tennis Complex in Richmond.

On Sunday, April 3 at 11 a.m., the Hokies take on No. 14 William & Mary at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg. The Tribe boast an 11-2 overall record and are led by freshman Megan Moulton-Levy and junior Megan Muth, the No. 33 and No. 49 ranked players in Division I.

The Hokies (6-11) are led by Jessica Long and Anat Elazari. Long, a freshman from Elizabethton, Pa., leads the team with nine dual and two ACC wins on the season. She is 6-3 playing in the No. 2 position, 2-2 at No. 3 and 1-2 in the No. 4 spot.

Elazari has a dual record of 7-9 playing in the No. 1 position. The junior from Tiberias, Israel has faced seven nationally-ranked opponents in the No. 1 spot so far this season. She is 4-1 in tie breakers and 3-3 in three-set matches.

Hokie Ashley James (So., Williamsburg, Va.) rides a three-match win streak. She defeated Andrea Cotuan (Liberty) in the No. 2 match and Caroline Downs (Radford) and Lori Stern (Virginia) at the No. 3 position in the past two weeks. James has a 6-9 dual record with five of her six wins at No. 3 singles.

Tech's duo of Elazari/Long leads the team with a 6-5 record in No. 1 doubles while the team of Kate Harrington/Ashley James post four wins at No. 2. The Hokies have won the doubles point in seven matches out of the 17 matches played.
