Antonella Pozzi Named GTE Academic All-District Second Team

BLACKSBURG, Va - (5/28/00) - Antonella Pozzi (Sr., Castellanza, Italy), a member of the Virginia Tech women's tennis team, was named to the GTE Academic All-District III University Division Spring At-Large team this past week as voted on by the district's sports information directors.
Pozzi displays a 3.82 cumulative grade point average, majoring in management science. She posted a 16-8 overall singles record this past season, including a 15-8 mark during spring duals. She also had a 13-9 overall doubles record, including a 13-8 spring duals record.
She helped the Tech women's tennis team finish with an 18-8 overall record, win its fifth-consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference title and earn a fifth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. She has been an academic all-conference selection, a seven-time Athletic Director's Honor Roll member, as well as an ITA All-Academic selection for the past several years.
Off the court, Pozzi is a member of the student-athlete advisory committee, Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and has participated in Tech's community outreach programs (New River Valley Humane Society and Midnight Madness Canned Food Drive).
She has been a seven-time College of Business Honor's List member and was awarded the H.H. Mitchell Outstanding Leadership Scholarship this past spring.
