Lauland Named BIG EAST Most Outstanding Player
Elazari, Rod, Spanner named to All-Tournament Team

Providence, R.I. - The 2004 BIG EAST Men's and Women's Tennis awards have been announced. Virginia Tech's Andreas Laulund and Miami's Megan Bradley were named Most Outstanding Tournament Players and Notre Dame's Bobby Bayliss and Miami's Paige Yuroshuk-Tews were named Coaches of the Year. The All-Tournament Teams for singles and doubles were also named. Voting was conducted among the 10 men's coaches and 14 women's coaches who were not permitted to vote for themselves.
Laulund was named the Men's Most Outstanding Tournament Player after helping Virginia Tech earn the top seed at the BIG EAST Championship and winning his only finished match. The senior is currently ranked 41st in the nation in singles and has a season record of 20-11.
Bradley earned Most Outstanding Player accolades for the second consecutive year by leading the Hurricanes to their second BIG EAST title in three years. The junior won both of her matches at No. 1 singles, surrendering just two opponent points and is ranked fourth nationally. Bradley and Melissa Applebaum were also named to the All-Tournament team in doubles after winning both of their matches.
Bayliss guided the Irish to a 15-8 record and their fourth BIG EAST crown. The Irish have been ranked the entire season and are currently No. 36 in the ITA rankings. During his 17 seasons at ND, Bayliss has led the Irish to 13 NCAA Championship berths.
Yuroshuk-Tews mentored Miami to a 17-3 overall record and its eighth BIG EAST title. The Hurricanes earned the No. 2 seed at the BIG EAST Championship and are ranked 26th nationally. In her three years at UM, Yuroshuk-Tews has led the 'Canes to three straight NCAA tournament appearances and a 48-17 record.
