BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. this weekend to participate in the Wake Forest Invitational. The event will be held Oct. 1-3 at the Leighton Stadium Courts on the Wake Forest University campus and will include players from Charlotte, Davidson, Georgia State, UNC Greensboro, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Winthrop.

In singles action, Anat Elazari (Jr., Tiberias, Israel) will face Margot Carter (Tennessee Tech) Friday at 10:30 a.m. in a Flight A match while J.J. Larson (Fr., Orchard Park, N.Y.) plays Kelly Fillnow (Davidson) at 11:30 a.m. in the same flight.

Felice Lam (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) opens her Flight B competition against Rachel Delpriore (Virginia) at noon on Friday and Ashley James (So., Williamsburg, Va.) takes on Emily Wade (UNC Greensboro) at 10:30 a.m. In Flight C, Bethan James (Fr., Flintshire, UK) battles Kelsey Linville (Davidson) at 9 a.m. with Jessica Long (Fr., Elizabethtown, Pa.) taking to the court at noon against Blakely Offutt (Wake Forest).

Flight D matches include Kate Harrington (Fr., Richmond, Va.) facing Rebecca Jameson (Davidson) at 9 a.m. and Gabriela Carvalho (Fr., Rock Hill, S.C.) playing Kate La Coste (UNC Greensboro) at 11:30 a.m.

In Flight A doubles, Lam/Larson are the top seeds and received a first round bye. The Tech duo won last week's William & Mary Invitational including an upset of the nation's second-ranked team in the quarterfinals. Elazari/A. James are scheduled for a 3 p.m. contest versus Lucille Kleyhans/Ana Maria Simanca (Winthrop).

Carvalho/B. James see their first Flight B doubles action at 2 p.m. against Melisa Cansado/Maja Russinova (Tennessee Tech) while Harrington/Long face Simon Foltyn/Kiera Strickland (Georgia State).
