December 2, 2004

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team placed three players in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association Fall Eastern Region rankings. The team regional rankings as well as the national team and individual ranking will be released in January.

Anat Elazari (Jr., Tiberias, Israel) is ranked tenth in the Eastern Region after an outstanding fall season. Elazari posted a 12-4 singles record and won the Wake Forest and Virginia Tech Fall Invitationals. She was ranked No. 73 in the fall preseason national rankings.

Felice Lam (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) and Jennifer Larson (Fr., Orchard Park, N.Y.) are ranked seventh in the region after a surprising fall campaign. The Tech duo won the William & Mary Invitational to open the year and in the process defeated the nation's second-ranked team. They went on to win the Wake Forest and Virginia Tech Fall Invitationals and recorded at 13-3 doubles mark.

The Hokies will open the dual match season on Jan. 29 with home matches against Clemson (12 p.m.) and Radford (6 p.m.).
