Women's Tennis players gain Regional Rankings
Stubbs, Khelifi earn East Region ranking

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team had two singles players and two doubles teams receive Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings in the East Region.
Kristen Stubbs (Jr., Hilton Head, S.C) was ranked 15th following a 7-5 fall season including an appearance in the championship match of the Virginia Tech Fall Invitational in September. Stubbs played at the top of the Tech lineup last season.
Ines Khelifi (Sr., Quebec, Canada) earned a No. 21 ranking in the East Region after concluding the fall with a 8-3 record. Khelifi won the championship of the Virginia Tech Invitational with victories over the Nos. 1, 2 and 4 seeds.
In doubles, the Hokie freshman made an impact as Stubbs and teammate Felice Lam (Fr., Seattle, Wash.) were ranked seventh after compiling a 7-2 fall season and advancing to the semifinals of the VT Invitational. They are joined in the top ten by the freshman duo of Carolyn Kramer (Manchester, Mo.) and Meredith Vincent (Cincinnati, Ohio) who are ranked tenth. The freshman combo also advanced to the semifinals of the VT Invitational.
The Hokies were 12-12 last season and finished third in the BIG EAST tournament. Tech opens the dual-match spring season on Jan. 25 hosting BIG EAST rival Seton Hall at 2 p.m. All Tech home matches are played in the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus.
