Hokies eliminated at ITA Eastern Regional
UNC tournament next up for Tech

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Virginia Tech was eliminated on Sunday at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Eastern Regional Championships as three singles players and two doubles teams all met defeat. The indoor event is being played at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on the U.S. Military Academy campus.
Inga Beermann (Fr., Bad Salzuflen, Germany), seeded eighth in the event, suffered a tough, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, upset loss to Kellie Schmidt (Marshall), while Anat Elazari (Sr., Tiberias, Israel), ranked No. 114 nationally and the No. 11 seed, also was upset losing, 7-5, 6-3, to Lauren Cash (William & Mary).
Ashley James (Jr., Williamsburg, Va.), unseeded in the event, lost 6-2, 6-0 to Stephanie Schnitter (Harvard) in Sunday's Round of 32.
In doubles action, Beerman/Larson, the No. 6 seeds, were upset, 8-6, by Ivana King/Jessica Siebel (Princeton). Elazari/Jessica Long (So., Elizabethtown, Pa.), seeded No. 15, defeated Michelle Mitchell/Caroline Stanisklawski (Penn), 8-4, before being upset, 8-4, by Olivia Nix/Rashmee Patil.
Tech returns to action and completes the fall schedule Nov. 3-6 at the Kitty Harrison Mock Duals hosted by the University of North Carolina.
