BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech women's tennis team had a rough outing Sunday afternoon dropping a 7-0 dual match to No. 25 Virginia Commonwealth at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus. The Hokies, fell to 6-3 while the Rams improved to 14-0 on the year.

VCU opened the dual match by taking all three doubles contests for the first point, then swept the six singles events.

In singles, Inga Beermann (Fr., Bad Salzuflen, Germany) lost her first dual match of the year, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 against Tatsiana Uvarova while Anat Elazari (Sr., Tiberias, Israel) dropped the No. 2 contest, 6-1, 6-4 versus 52^nd-ranked Marianna Yuferova. Jessica Long (So., Elizabethtown, Pa.) lost 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3 to No. 78 Viktoria Konstantinova while Ashley James (Jr., Williamsburg, Va.) fell 6-1, 6-2 in her No. 4 match against No. 100 Olga Borisova. J.J. Larson (So., Orchard Park, N.Y.) lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 to Vera Petrashevitch and Abbey Walker (Fr., Lancaster, S.C.) lost 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 6 match versus Gabrielle De Beaucoudrey.

In doubles, the 16^th-ranked team of BorisovaYuferova defeated Elazari/Larson, 8-4, at No. 1, Petrashevitch/Uvarova

beat Tech's Beermann/Walker, 8-5 at No. 2, and Konstantinova/Camille Ripert won 8-4 in the No. 3 match over A. James/Long.

Tech returns to action on Mar. 4 when the Hokies face their first road contest of the year in a 1 p.m. match at Marshall.
