Tech earns national ranking

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech's women's tennis team received a No. 67 national ranking Tuesday in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason poll. The Hokies were 12-13 last season and ended the year with at No. 67 as well.
Tech will enter the dual match season with a young lineup consisting of one senior, three juniors, five sophomores and two freshmen who will compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference, one of the most highly regarded leagues in the nation.
The preseason national poll includes 11 ACC teams: No. 5 Miami, No. 7 Georgia Tech, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 10 Duke, No. 17 Clemson, No. 18 Wake Forest, No. 25 Virginia, No. 32 North Carolina State, No. 37 Maryland, No. 61 Florida State, and No. 67 Virginia Tech.
The Hokies open up the dual match season on Feb. 3 when they host East Carolina at 1 p.m. and Appalachian State at 5 p.m.
