BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team heads to Chapel Hill, N.C., this weekend to compete in the Kitty Harrison Invitational. It will be the Hokies’ final fall tournament of the year.
The Hokies will be joined by host North Carolina, Elon, Maryland, Minnesota, South Carolina, VCU, Virginia and William & Mary.
Tech’s last tournament was the ITA Regionals hosted by Virginia. The Hokies had a strong campaign in both singles and doubles.
The doubles team of Raluca Mita and Francesca Fusinato advanced all the way to semifinals of the ITA’s before falling to nationally-ranked Maria Belaya/ Jeltje Loomans of William & Mary.
Fusinato also advanced to the semifinals of singles play. Fusinato and Tech’s Kelly Williford faced off in the quarterfinals of the ITA singles draw, as well.
Ilinca Stoica, Isel Martinez-Marcos, Sansitha Nandakumar and Mita all advanced through at least the first round at ITA Regionals in the singles draw and will look to continue their success this weekend.
Play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational begins on Friday, Nov. 8 and wraps up on Sunday, Nov. 10.
