BLACKSBURG, Va. — The No. 59 Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will travel to Wake Forest and N.C. State this weekend for a pair of road ACC matches.

The Hokies last took the court on March 9 in a 6-1 loss to No. 12 North Carolina. Tech was schedule to play Coastal Carolina on March 16, but the match was cancelled due to weather.

Ilinca Stoica has been leading the Hokies. She topped No. 2 Beatrice Capra of Duke 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (0) on March 8. With that win, Stoica jumped up the ITA Rankings into the No. 66 slot.

Francesca Fusinato has also made her way back up the rankings as she climbed to No. 75 in the ITA’s most recent rankings.

The Hokies will take on Wake Forest for their first match of the weekend on Saturday at noon. The Demon Deacons bring a No. 75 ranking and a 9-6, 1-5 ACC record to the match. Wake Forest topped Elon last Sunday 6-1 to round out a two-match home stand. The Demon Deacons boast the 72nd-ranked pair of Samantha Asch and Luisa Fernandez.

N.C. State will host Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Wolfpack jumped into the ITA Rankings this week at No. 57. N.C. State had last weekend off but fell to No. 13 Miami 7-0 on March 9. The Wolfpack are 7-4, 1-3 ACC on the season.

Play begins at Wake Forest on Saturday at noon and at N.C. State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
