BLACKSBURG, Va. — Virginia Tech’s 58th-ranked women’s tennis team will host the 3rd-ranked Virginia Cavaliers at noon on Saturday, March 29 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

The Hokies (10-7, 3-5 ACC) are coming off of a 1-1 road trip to Wake Forest and N.C. State. Tech fell 6-1 to Wake Forest on March 22, but rebounded to top No. 57 N.C. State 5-2 the next day.

Recently, Tech has been led by sophomore Ilinca Stoica. She checked in at No. 73 in this week’s ITA rankings and has been holding down the No. 1 singles spot. Freshman Francesca Fusinato has been a key part of the Hokie effort as well, as she brings a No. 98 ranking to this weekend’s match with the Cavaliers.

Virginia (12-4, 6-1 ACC) jumped from No. 6 to No. 3 in the ITA rankings this week. The Cavaliers topped both Notre Dame and Pittsburgh last weekend. Virginia is led by 3rd-ranked Julia Elbaba. She is joined in the ITA rankings by Danielle Collins (No. 33), Stephanie Nauta (No. 45) and Rachel Pierson (No. 50). Virginia also has two ranked doubles teams.
