Fusinato named to VaSID All-State Team
Freshman earned second-team honors

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Freshman Francesca Fusinato was named to the 2014 University Division Women’s Tennis Second Team Tuesday afternoon, as voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). This is the first of such honors for Fusinato.

Virginia swept the major awards as Danielle Collins was named the state player of the year and Rachel Pierson earned Rookie of the Year honors. The head coach of the Cavaliers, Mark Guilbeau, who was named Coach of the Year, rounded out the trio.

Fusinato got her collegiate career out to an impressive start as she claimed nine singles victories in her first 11 appearances. The Feltre, Belluno, Italy, finished her debut season with a 12-5 dual record, going 8-2 from the No. 1 spot. Despite being slowed by injury for the latter part of the season, Fusinato ended the 2014 season ranked 120 nationally and eighth in the Atlantic Region. She was also named to the All-ACC third team earlier this post season.
